چکیده
Abstract A simple procedure for estimating the uncertainty of estimates true solutions to problems deflection, stress concentrations, and force resultants in solid structural mechanics is introduced. Richardson extrapolation carried out on a dataset samples from sequence four grids. Simple median-based statistical analysis used establish 95% confidence intervals. The leads calculations that deliver reasonably tight solution

Confidence intervals for nonlinear regression extrapolation
The various methods of confidence intervals construction for nonlinear regression are considered. The new method named Ž . by a method of associated simulation the AS-method is proposed. Using computerized simulation, it is shown on the example that only two methods, the bootstrap and the AS-method, give a satisfactory accuracy. The advantage of the AS-method is the speed. In comparison with th...
متن کاملMultilevel Richardson-Romberg extrapolation
We propose and analyze a Multilevel Richardson-Romberg (ML2R) estimator which combines the higher order bias cancellation of the Multistep Richardson-Romberg method introduced in [Pag07] and the variance control resulting from the stratification introduced in the Multilevel Monte Carlo (MLMC) method (see [Gil08, Hei01]). Thus, in standard frameworks like discretization schemes of diffusion proc...
متن کاملFactors of Safety for Richardson Extrapolation
A factor of safety method for quantitative estimates of grid-spacing and time-step uncertainties for solution verification is developed. It removes the two deficiencies of the grid convergence index and correction factor methods, namely, unreasonably small uncertainty when the estimated order of accuracy using the Richardson extrapolation method is greater than the theoretical order of accuracy...
متن کاملRichardson Extrapolation and the Bootstrap
Simulation methods, in particular Efron's (1979) bootstrap, are being applied more and more widely in statistical inference. Given data, (X1,* ,Xn), distributed according to P belonging to a hypothesized model P the basic goal is to estimate the distribution Lp of a function Tn (X1, * *Xn,P). The bootstrap presupposes the existence of an estimate P (X1, Xn) and consists of estimating Lp by the ...
متن کاملInterpolation strategies in repeated Richardson extrapolation
We discuss the interpolation strategies related to Richardson extrapolation and repeated Richardson extrapolation. We emphasize that, in most computations, the interest is in obtaining accurate solution on the current computational grid, not that on the coarse level grids on which the extrapolated solutions reside. We tackle the interpolation issue that has largely been overlooked in Richardson...
